![]() ![]() Now let’s see how quickly you can add some markings to this example so it looks like this: Let’s say you used this technique to enter the following: I covered the Repitch feature in a little more detail in this previous blog post. Then use the Repitch feature in Simple Entry to quickly change those pitches to the correct pitches, using either letter keys on your computer keyboard to represent note names or by indicating specific notes with a MIDI keyboard. Use the HyperScribe tool to simply play the rhythm of your piece, all on one note. One solution is to enter JUST the rhythm first. He was so delighted with the results I knew I had to share them with you. I shared a few tips to help him speed up the process. So, it seems that Finale has some issue with accessing Audio Units instruments, even if it's the Aria Player.I spoke to a beginning Finale user the other day who was frustrated that his lack of keyboard skills kept him from entering music as quickly as someone who could simply “play it in” with Finale’s HyperScribe tool. If I then opened the Audio Unit Banks and Effects window, the piano sound then loaded properly. When I went to re-open a new document, my new Jazz Font Default 2 document opened, but no sound. This was the only change I made to the stock Jazz Font Default document supplied by Finale. All worked well, so I saved this document as "Jazz Font Default 2", and changed preferences to open that as the new default document. Then I went into Score Manager, edited the Aria Player to select the Garritan Concert D piano. I then changed the setting to "Play FInale thru Audio Units", went into Audio Units Banks & Effects and selected Aria Player as the only instrument in Bank 1. Finale plays the softsynth grand piano sound. I see that "Play Finale thru MIDI" is selected, instead of Play Finale thru Audio Units". If I change the default document in preferences to be the stock "Jazz Font Default", it plays a sound. I tried to reply to this post just using the reply function in my email and I don't think my reply posted here, so I am re-posting after signing in to this forum. At least “tech support” infers that your people will work with us to determine where the problem lies, and if it’s at your end, it will be fixed. The implication is that nothing is wrong with your program, and we just need your help when we can’t do something. MM, please don’t give us “customer success” people. ‘Vote for your favorite” sounds like middle-school tactics. They should be fixed before we play popularity games with a product that many people rely on, to make a living. There is a backlog of problems going back years, in many cases. Well, except that many of those employee are no longer with the company. Looking back over this forum, you will see any number of posts from MM employees that our requests are noted, and scoped for further development, and yet, nothing changes. We have seen no sign that posting feature requests and gathering votes has anything to do with what is added, fixed, or deleted. Please let me know if you have any questions about this. Posting your feedback there not only allows you to discuss your ideas with other Finale users, but allows others to vote on your post as well! Our Product Management team also monitors these posts to help identify which issues are most crucial to our customers. If having the option to load the instruments directly from Speedy Entry is an important feature for you, to further support your ideas, I would suggest posting your feedback to our online Finale Feature Request community. I realize that this extra clicking to switch between tools is not ideal. Unfortunately the sounds do not load when you click on the staff while in Speedy Entry. In order for the instrument sounds to load in a default document, you do need to click on the staff in Simple Entry first. Here is the quote from the support person: Wow! After more than a week of emails with the tech support person, she was unable to open my default document and get it to do this! The problem was with my default document, but also true of any document I opened with Finale. ![]()
